When I Lay My Burden Down
This story was about this girl that they called sister and her grandmother. Her grandmother works at a store for the white people. This was back in slaver days and they had to do what the people told them to do, like cleaning up the store and taking out the trash and stuff like that. Her grandmother wasn’t the only one working at the store, her uncle work there too. They family didn’t have that much money so they had to go get water out the well to drink and to take a bath with. But they mama was always on to them about taking a bath. She wouldn’t let them go sleep into they took a bath. Every night she would look at there feet to make sure they took a bath and if they feet was dirty and she see them she would pull them out the bed and make them take a shower.
One day after the girl sister was cleaning the yard of the store for her grandmother, cause she didn’t like to see her grandmother doing all the work. So she just started doing some of the work for her and her grandmother would just sit down and rest. One day after sister got done cleaning up the yard and she sat down on the store front porch with her grandmother, and she seen these old ladies that use to just come by to just pick with her grandmother. That day they came, sister grandmother told her to go in the store, but sister didn’t want to go cause she knew what was going on. The ladies came to the store and just starting messing with sister grandmother, and sister was in the store right by the front door. She just looking outside at the people talking to her grandmother and she look down by the counter and seen a rifle. Then she started thinking what would my grandmother want me to do, but by the time she went outside the women had left. She asks her grandmother what she do to make them leave a she said that she just sat there and song to herself and they finally left.
I think that the author was trying to get people to see that you don’t have to have money to do everything. In the story they did have that much money, but they mama still found a way to put food on the table every night. She also made sure they was clean before they went to bed cause if they was clean she would wake them up and make them take a bath. When they got to take a bath they had to go get water from the well so that they can bath.
The author was seemed like that he was trying to prove another point in the story. When they ladies came to the store to start with sister’s grandmother, she was just sitting there sing her a song and paying them no attention. They had seen that she was paying them no attention they left. The point that I think the author prove right there was that you don’t have to fight to solve everything you can just pay them no attention and they will leave you.
This story would be important to other people life cause it show them that they don’t need that much money to have a good family. It would show people that fighting or any type of violence wouldn’t solve anything.
Right now in the World
My article was about how china is coming up and starting to make everything. If you look on almost everything you pick up it has made by china on it. It’s like they make everything we use in our life today and they are taking over. They send the things from over there and sell it to us for a high price, but when you over their things are much cheaper.
China is a massive nation both in physical size and population. China nation is about three times bigger than United States and 1.3 billion people living in china and 294 million in the United States. China is the second biggest producer in the world and they are saying soon it will be the largest producer in the world, but the United States is the largest right now.
What is the mean idea of this story? The main idea of this story is that china is starting to make a lot things now and their population is going up.
There are currently over 1.3 billion people living in china.
China is a massive nation both physical size population
Their economy is growing at a staggering 10%pear year.

The Big Game
The Big Game
A couple years ago I had to play in one of the biggest basketball games have ever played in. I was scared at first because there were so many people there. You could hear the people from the locker room making loud noises ready for the game to begin. After everybody on the team got loose, the coach told everybody what to do, and who was going to be starting the game. He told me that I would be starting this game, so I had to get ready. Then everybody got ready to go out and they started introducing the team. Then the coach told the starting five to come over, and he started yelling in our face, telling us that "we are going to win this game! Just play hard!". While he was yelling, we were looking at each other because of the smell of his breath. When we all came out on the floor we all started laughing at the smell of his breath. It smelled like something died in inside his mouth.
When we walked on the floor to get ready for the game, we started looking around and saying that there were so many people there. Everybody got serious because this was big a game for us in the first place, and we could already taste the win. Then as the game tipped off, the crowd got louder. When the first quarter was over, we were up by five points. We didn’t know that the team was going to be that hard to play. Everybody on the team was tired and they had a taste for something to drink. Then the coach told the water boy to bring us Gatorade. The team was so happy that the coach had Gatorade this game and you could already taste the Gatorade. I was so tired that I was the first one to go to the water boy and get some Gatorade. When I started to drink the Gatorade, it tasted so good. Then the coach told me to stop drinking so much before I cramp up.
In the fourth quarter the game got physical because both of the teams wanted to win. We started to foul each other hard, and the refs started to call technical fouls on both of the teams. As I was going up for a lay up someone from the other team fouled me hard and hit me in my mouth. It started bleeding, so the coach called a timeout. I could taste the blood in my mouth and it wasn’t a good taste or good feeling. The coach asked me was I going to be able to go back in the game. I told him yes, I would be able to go back in. My coach knew that I wanted to go back in because this was a big game and I wanted to play in it. As I walked on the floor to shoot the free throws. The boy from the other team started talking to me saying that we are going to lose even if he have to foul me every time. I didn’t say anything back because I knew that they would give me a technical if I said anything to him.
With about five seconds left in the game they scored and tied the game up. My coach called a timeout after they scored the shot. The coach told the team to come huddle up and told us what play we were going to do. After he told us what play we were doing, he told me that the ball was coming to me so be ready to shoot it. As we walked back on the floor the people started cheering for us. Then I just stoped and looked around at all the people in the crowd. All the people had on blue, the same color as our team jersey. They blew the whistle, said ball in, and then my teammate went and got the ball and threw it to me in the corner. As soon as I got the ball, I shot the ball and I made it. I was so happy that I made the shot that I ran up the court yelling and jumping and then my teammates started jumping on me saying we won the game. That was close, and a good feeling to win a game like that I couldn’t believe that I had made the shot. I will always remember that game because it was the biggest game I had ever played.

THE MAN WHO WAS ALMOST A MAN
The Man Who Was Almost A Man
This story is about a little boy Dave that wants a gun. He work all summer so that he could ask his mama can he get a gun and she kept on saying he can’t have no gun cause no one in the house have a gun. One day he was working and his friend came by and they just talking and he told his friend that he want a gun. Then his friend told him that he had a gun for sale and that he wills sale him a gun for two dollars. He went home asking his mama can he have a gun and she kept telling him no that he can’t have no gun in her house.
The next day he came home from work, Dave and his parents was eating dinner. He was scared to ask his mama can have a gun around his daddy. After dinner was over, Dave mama was washing dishes and he started asking his mama over and over again can he have a gun. Finally she said yes he can have the gun, but he have to let her keep the gun. He went and bought the gun from his friend, but after he bought the he suppose to go right back home. Instead he went in woods and tried to shoot the gun. When he shot the gun the gun threw him down and fail out of his hand. That had scared him up, so he went home after everybody was in the bed.
The next morning his mama woke him up asking for the gun and he kept telling her that he left it outside. When he got to work his boss told him to go in the plant the plants in the field, and the fields was about one mile in down the road from where the shop was at. He took the mule with so that he can ply the fields. As soon as he got down the road he started plying the fields like he supposes to be doing. After about the second row he justs stop and though about that he had his gun with him. Then he stops the mule from plying the garden and pulls out his gun and start playing with it. He though about that he had some bullets and he load the gun then he shot the mule, but he didn't mean to. It was the gun it was to powerful him to shoot. He told his boss that he had killed his mule, and the his boss said that’s ok he will just have took keep his checks for the next couple of months.
The reason like this story is because when I was little I had done that same thing but it wasn’t a mule or I did pay for it. When I was little it was this dog that always come up my house and I was scared of it cause it had tried to bite me. I saw the dog in the yard and at time my older cousin was staying with my mama and me and he had a gun. I know that I wasn’t suppose to touch but that day I thought about that dog tried to bite me, so I went to my cousin room and got his gun and went outside. Then the dog seen me and started barking at me and walking towards me. That’s when I shot him, he started running back home. The owner came to my house about two days later, and my cousin took the blame and he told the man that the dog was trying to bite me. That’s why I choose this story because it reminds me of myself.
The author explains who the little boy was in the story. He was a boy that wants a gun and end up shooting an animal that he didn’t mean to shoot. So he got a job and he had to pay for it.
