The topic I choose was The Jazz Age. The Jazz Age was about people sell alcohol, and they made bars and then they started having bootleggers sell alcohol. I want to read about how they started making bars and when can they started letting people bootleg.
The story “Gatsby’s Party” was about these people who came from every where and just wanted to go to this party that they have every once in a while. When they have the party a lot of people come to the party, some under the age of 21. When they get there all of them drink and have a good time like it’s a club.
The story was told by a man name Nick Carraway, who wanted to have this big party. It was a nice spot next door to the place called Jay Gatsby’s huge mansion. He had just gotten his first job, and then he uses some of the money to open his new club. It was when new people come to meet each other. They always had nice music playing for you, bars so that you can drink.
The story I read was “Gatsby Party”, the party was about this man who sold alcohol at his parties and had nice things there. I think that the way it has something to do with Jazz Age is that they serve alcohol and things like that. So they would be a bootlegger from what they talked about in the Jazz Age. "I was on my way to get roaring drunk from sheer embrassment when jordan Baker came out the house and stood at the head of the marble steps." It's telling how they use to have alcohol and it was illegal to have it then.
The story relate to the Jazz Age really good because they had a lot of illegal things going on at the party that they were doing. All the people who called there self gangster was there. At the party they found out about this person was at the party that had killed some women. There were fights going on while the party was going on. That’s how the people live there life in the Jazz Age.
The story about Richard Corey is a sad story. It about how other people seen that these man was beautiful all the girls liked him. It seems that he did feel the same way about his self. So one day Richard went home and shot his self. The poem probably is disillusionment because Richard Corey was not a happy man as everybody seen him.
The story Mending Wall is about two neighbors who had had a disagreement about a fence. One of the neighbors asks why they need a fence. The other neighbor wanted a fence because he said that a fence makes a good neighbor and keep the peace and them more separated. I think that it has something to do with disillusionment because it talking about people trying to free there self’s.
In the poem “Dream Deferred” is asking what happen to a dream that was lost and damaged. Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? it is tell you how a dream can just be destroyed. The poem is speaking about the time in slavery, because the slaves had dreams but they couldn’t come true because what they were going through.
In the poem “The Negro Speaks of River” he tells you how the Ancestor of how it was them that built the pyramid, and bathed in Euphrates River. In the poem he says “I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.” They are talking about the slaves had to built everything with there hands and with there minds.
In the poem “Incident” the author says that when he was in Baltimore he was very happy and he was also very young and some body nigger. He was hurt by this emotionally because of the name called. And so I smiled, but he poked out
His tongue, and called me, "Nigger." He is trying to get him down by calling him names. This poem has something to do with disillusionment cause the boy tries to avoid all the things the people were doing to him.

Tony Writing Four
Dallas Mavericks will make the playoff this year. The sports media are saying that the Mavericks will not make the playoffs because they have some hard teams to play at the end of the regular season. If they keep playing at the rate that there playing at now, they wouldn’t have a problem getting into the playoffs.
When Dirk Nowitzki, got hurt everyone thought that he injury will stop them from going to the playoffs. Nowitzki had twisted his ankle and the media were saying that he was going to be out for the rest of the season. Everybody was wondering how they were going to win without Nowitzki, but in the first game Nowitzki was gone they won and in the second game they lost. I guess Nowitzki saw that his team needed him, so he tried to come back the next game against the LA Lakers. They lost that game, but it was a good game. They had the Suns up next, and they needed to win that game.
When the Dallas Mavericks played the Suns, they are one the best teams in the league. This was Nowitzki’s second game back from being hurt, but for a man who was just hurt, he somehow came to play that night. Nowitzki had 32 points that night to lead his team to a win against the Suns. Everyone on the sports channels were talking about how they were going to lose that night. Now Dallas has come back to show them that they are not ready to go home yet.
The Mavericks had to win five of the next nine games in order to be in the playoffs. They have already won three of the games and now they have two more games to win so they will be in the playoffs. The rest of their games they have to play some teams that have been playing very well this year, but I still see them winning two or more of their last games.
The Mavericks have been in a run with the Warriors and Nuggets for the 8th playoff spot. Right now, they are in a good position for the number 7th spot. As long as Jason Kidd, Josh Howard, and Nowitzki keep playing the way they are playing right now, they will be ready when it comes for the playoffs. If they get in the playoffs, they will be a hard team to beat because they didn’t have a good season and they didn’t have Jason Kidd until almost at the end of season. It would be difficult to stop all three of them, and say that they will end up winning the whole thing. At the end of the playoffs, The Dallas Mavericks will the 2007-2008 champions.

Realism
1a. in the story “A Story of an Hour” it was about this woman Ms. Mallard that stayed with her husband. Then one day this person that they knew had came the there house and told her that her husband was one of the people who had got killed in the newspaper. Then after they told her that, she wouldn’t have anybody to live for and she would be alone for now on.
1b.one of the social issue was that Choplin wants to solve about female has to listen to everything there husband says to them. The woman for the story was happy about that her husband had died because she wouldn’t have a husband to tell her what to do. When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under her breath: "free, free, free!" she is free form her husband having to make her do everything.
2a. the story “The Battle with Mr. Covey” was about who was free and no longer in slavery. Some of the slaves had to work very hard on the days it was very hot, like 3 of them had a bad head and dizziness and they still couldn’t leave after falling and running into things. The story uses in many ways by describing the many things that the slaves endured by his slave master.
2b. With it gave me a heavy blow upon the head, making a large wound, and the blood ran freely; and with this, again told me to get up. It is tell how they use to beat the slaves for not doing what ever they say or disobeying them.
3. An example of modernisms is “Training Day”. Training day is about this cricket cop from California. And he live in this neighbor that is really dangerous, they have people getting killed everyday. The Author uses realism having all theses gangs and people getting kill over nothing. At the end of the story some people from the neighbor ends up killing the cricket cop.

The Dark Romanticism
The three authors would not believe in transcendentalism philosophy because, transcendentalism believed that everyone was pure and good. But all the authors had bad things happen to them in their life and they also have made people have bad times in there life. Like look at Nathaniel Hawthorne he was a judge that was sentencing people to death and gets hung and things like that.
I think that I would be a dark romanticism because e the romanticism believed that everybody was good and people may end up doing something bad in there life. But I don’t think that everybody was good and pure and that’s why I say that I am dark romanticism.
The story “The Black Cat” is about this man who had a quick temper and he couldn’t control it. He was married and his wife was in love with animals and they had all kinds of animals. Then sometimes he go out and get drunk and comes home and then he start getting bored so he would end up taking it out on the cats, like cutting the cats eyes out. The narrator had a bad temper, so at the end of the story he ends up killing his wife and the cat.
The Dark Romanticism would disagree with the transcendentalists. The transcendentalists believe that everyone was pure and good and that god spoke through there mind. The Dark Romanticism did not believe that god spoke through people minds and they didn’t believe that everybody was pure and good. In the story they are showing you how the mind can just snap, and how man just killed his wife and the cat.
Let me see, then, what thereat is and this mystery explore-- Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore;-- 'Tis the wind and nothing more.. Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door-- Bird or beast upon the sculptured bust above his chamber door. They are listing to there mind and it is showing transcendentalist.
The transcendentalist believes that everyone was good and pure and that god spoke through everybody mind and they did not believe in evil. In the story they called the raven a thing of evil, but the transcendentalist did not believe in evil through. They also believe that you turned to the over soul no matter what.
Edgar Allen Poe was recognized as a literacy critic and James Russell Lowell called him the most discriminating, philosophical, and fearless. After his brother death he began more earnest into and to start his career as a writer. He was found of the street where some man found him and toke him to the hospital and where he later died.
I think what made Edgar Allen Poe write like this is, because when he was a child he had been going through a lot of thinks. Like when he was a child his father had abandoned there family and his mother end up dying the year later. Then he and his sisters had to go to a foster home. So I believed that’s why he always mean and can’t control the things he does.

Transcendentalism
1. In the story “From Nature” they were talking about transcendenlists in all kinds of ways. They are also talking how god speaks through everybody mind and he doesn’t say the same thing to each other. He tells each person some thing different. While you going to into the society you will not be able to let your mind wonder off, but if you were alone you probably would be able to.
The story mainly speaks about the beauty of nature and the many things that we see. Nature never wears a mean appearance. What they mean about that is nature is going to have something to do with how you feel, like one day if you’re in a good mode it probably will be a good day. Or if you have a bad day you will start noticing things that will make you have a bad day.
2. The story “Self Reliance” talks about how you should trust in your self and you should believe in your self. God will not have his work made manifest by cowards. He says that if you are scared to do what he asks you, he will not ask you to do nothing else for him.
“And we are now men, and must accept in all the highest mind the same transcendent destiny.” Now that they are older they need to listen to there mind and hear what god is telling them. The transcendentalist believed that god spoke through the mind and there hard work.
3. Resistance to Civil Government talks about American government and how most of the laws weren’t right. Thoreau believed that too respect for the law could lead people doing things that they should do. They believed that they should do what ever god told them to do and not what the government told them to do. “Would never manage to bounce over the obstacles which legislators are continually putting in their way.” Like all the hard things that you have to over come in your life.
